Social Cycling ATX presents: Thursday Night Social Ride - One WITHOUT Corking

So the peeps running the Thursday Night Social Ride are getting a little pissed off about the corking that's happened on the rides of late. You know the deal; TNSR is THEIR ride and they want to run THEIR ride THEIR way, which means corking-free. Here's what they've got to say about it:

CORKING is when someone within a group of riders blocks cars off at an intersection so that the bikes may pass... Please DO NOT do this and if you see anyone doing this please let them know better. This is the type of thing that will end TNSR.

We are running short on helpers for the ride. If you would like to help out leading TNSR please contact me (there is a link at the bottom of the post or find me before the ride). Also if yo...u are not wanting to "officially" help out but are willing to do what you can...

• for those of you at the front of the ride please stay behind the leader.

• If you see a light turn red please alert the group to "Stop!"

• the more communication we have out there the better.

• DO NOT CORK /block intersections.
** if you see anyone corking/blocking intersections please ask them not to. If there are cars who have the right of way we need to let them pass. **

How We Do Things:
• Stay Behind The Leader. **Don't Chase The Rabbit!
• Social Cycling Austin rides as traffic, not against it.
• Be kind to your fellow riders and the cars that share the road.
• Don't Run Red Lights, stay in one lane, let cars pass.
• DO NOT CORK / Block Intersections
• Have Fun / Be Safe
• It's not a race, it's a social ride
• Please remember pick up your trash @ starting & stopping points.

What you need to bring:
• lights(lights, lights, lights)
• a lock
• a valid ID if you are going to the after party and Tip Money.

Like Clarence said they need more ride leaders, so if you want to partake in the ofttimes thankless task of yelling at me and those of my ilk when we break the rules, keep an eye out for Clarence and let him know. Then keep an eye out for us and exert your authoritah. 7:30pm, Festival Beach. Tonight. If the rain stays away I'll probably bring the metal.
