Social Cycling ATX presents: Thursday Night Social Ride - Ice Cream Social and Bike Polo BENEFIT!
Bring an appetite and your sweet tooth to tonight's Thursday Night Social Ride, because there's gonna be some grubbin:
It's getting a couple of degrees cooler and the sun is going down a little earlier so it's time we celebrate the season change with the TNSR End of Summer Ice Cream social. Read below for the details.
**SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT**: Beginning next week we are moving the whole ride up 30 minutes. NEXT WEEK WE WILL START MEETING AT 7 AND TAKING OFF AT 7:30 due to it getting dark earlier.

WHERE AND WHEN: We meet just East of the i-35 bridge on the North side of Town Lake (http://is.gd/flNck).
For the last time this year we will be meeting at 7:30 and taking off around 8.
WHAT: We are hanging out for a bit and eating ice cream. Cool Haus (http://eatcoolhaus.com/austin) will be at the park selling their awesome ice cream sandwiches and we will be joined on the ride by several BICYCLING PALETEROS (ice cream vendors). We are going to take a nice ride that will take us to the Capitol Grounds, then down south passing by the springs, finally ending up at a benefit for the bike polo club (http://atxbpsc.ning.com/) at the HotShop (http://tinyurl.com/2aydoby) with kegs provided by Uncle Billys (http://www.unclebillysaustin.com/) and Lone Star. A couple of bucks donation for a beer is recommended. All proceeds go towards expenses for putting on Austin's first national bike polo tourney which takes place over halloween weekend. There will be a DJ and great Vietnamese food from Dang Good Foods.
After the benefit, Mugshots (http://tinyurl.com/2unmeq9) has invited us over to hang out on their back patio and drink their Lone Star.
HOW: Social Cycling Austin rides AS traffic and not AGAINST it. We stop at red lights, yield the right of way, stay right and let cars around us. Listen to your ride leaders. They are some mighty nice people who are working hard for your fun and safety.
WHAT YOU NEED: LIGHTS (front and back), a lock, and some money for the fundraiser/ice cream/tip money at the bar. A helmet is not required but is always a good idea. You are responsible for your own safety on the TNSR.

Show the ATXBPSC folks that skrilla! 7:30pm under the trees at Festival Beach (east of 35 on the north shore of Town Lake) is the time and place, and apparently for the last time as the ride shifts a half-hour earlier from here on out.
