26th Annual Moonlight Cruze - September 14th!
Here's the big one, the annual Austin Moonlight Cruze/Harvest Moon Ride. I just got "official" word that the ride goes down Sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY!!! September 14th at 2am. That means go out and party your ass off Saturday night, but when the bartender yells "last call" you slam what you got and get down to the Lamar Pedestrian Bridge in a hot minute, 'cause that's where the real party happens.
This ride is now in its' 26th year, and if you've never been before you really owe it to yourself to check it out. If you took a regular Full Moon cruise and tripled it, you can get some idea of the scope of this ride. 500+ people at 2am on bikes, trikes, tandems, and everything in-between, partying it up Austin style. Plus if you think that the bike stereos and light setups that show up for the Full Moon Cruise are impressive, you have no freaking idea what's in store for you. Last year we had a stereo bike that was shaped like a fish and piloted by a bicycle rapper armed with a mic and a mean set of wheels. Dude was out of control. And that's just ONE of the wacky people to show up for these things. Ok, you've officially been given notice. Clear your calendar and BE THERE!
Just thought I'd forward some background about that dude with the fish shaped bike (Choprical Fish) who showed up last year.
That was Paul of RocktheBike.com who specializes in urban biking and other fun bike related stuff.
I ran into him at last year's Interbike trade show and the rest is history.
Here's a link to his Flickr page:

Paul is also the brains behind the Down Low Glow neon lights that you've been seeing around town. He sells them among other cool stuff at http://www.rockthebike.com
