Update: Cyclist struck by APD officer released from hospital
I just spoke with the detective on the case and was informed that Travis Manning (the cyclist) has been released from Brackenridge Hospital. I haven't spoken with Travis or with Sergeant Watzke (the officer behind the wheel) regarding the incident as I'm still waiting to view a copy of the police report so that I can have a few better-formulated questions for them. Just wanted to let everyone know that the cyclist is ok. The detective said that he's staying at ARCH so I may try calling up there to speak with him, and will update y'all if I find anything new. Be safe everybody.
whats the big deal? bikes and cars collide all the time. is it a big deal becuase a cop was involved?
fixed gears are like butt holes, every one has one.
They say they're going to hold cyclists to a higher standard, I think the cycling public should do the same with the police. My concern is that no one has heard the other side of the story. The news report and online story only mention the officer's side of the incident, and that the man was injured and hospitalized. No witness statements and nothing from the injured cyclist. The online report also didn't mention anyone's name which is unusual. I just wanted to follow up and see how things turned out.
dont poke the bear!

You're probably right. Last time I poked I got arrested, and that shit wasn't fun.
