Metal workers/sculptors needed: City wants to give you big bucks!

Joe D, one of our local bike fiends, er, friends just notified me of the following article on the Austinist:

Specifically:

"The Downtown Austin Alliance (DAA) is looking for Austin-area artists to design sculptures that can double as bicycle racks on Congress Ave.
downtown. The Alliance's request for proposals calls for artists to create eye-catching public art bicyclists can lock their rides to, and offers a $10,000 grant to those whose designs are approved. ... The DAA's program is only open to artists living within 100 miles of Austin."

TEN FREAKING GRAND. If you can work with metal and build a badass bike sculture/rack, the city wants your number. And if you get ten grand out of the deal, you owe Joe and I a beer or ten. Submit your proposal
by September 24th. Don't slack!
