Social Cycling ATX presents: Thursday Night Social Ride - Back to Valhalla!
John's running the show again this time around, and he's got even more fun, riding, jousting, beer and METAL ready for the unruly crowd's consumption...
Hey everyone! Watching Quicksilver at the drive-in was a blast but things fell apart when the majority of the crowd took off straight for the bar after the movie. This week we'll do things like old times. We're starting off with a good solid ride. We'll stop at Zaragosa park for some more bike jousting, bike games and socializing, then take ourselves on another leisurely ride to Valhalla. They'll be giving us a free keg of ...beer to slake our thirsts and then $2 pints of anything they have on draft!
ROUTE: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Zaragosa-Valhalla (Route subject to change so check back on Thursday for the final version.)
WHERE AND WHEN:
Meet at Festival Gardens (map: http://is.gd/fQdTc) at 7PM for a little social time, leave about 7:30 on a roundabout ride to Zaragosa Park for some bike jousting then ending up at Valhalla, 710 Red River St. http://tinyurl.com/3xdm6mfWHAT: As usual, we'll have a a nice long cruise around town. We're going to try Bike Jousting Round 2 at Zaragosa to make up for the lances being stolen last time around.
HOW: Social Cycling Austin rides AS traffic and NOT AGAINST it. We stop at red lights, yield the right of way and let cars pass as best we can. We are cool to both our fellow riders and the other traffic on the road. Listen up to those volunteers who are helping to lead the ride. They are some nice folks and have you best interest in mind.
WHAT YOU NEED: LIGHTS, LIGHTS, LIGHTS, a lock, a valid ID for the after party and voter registration and a bit of money for fun and tips at the after party.
Don't Forget! Pheobe's Mud will be out for us at Festival Gardens with coffe, hot chocolate, cookies, PB&Js and more doing their best to support us so give them some love.
Can't wait to see you all there!
Thursday. 7pm. Festival Beach (east of 35 on the north side of Town Lake). Be there and bring ALLLLLLL your bikely friends. Seriously though, what better way to celebrate armistice day than a trip to a VIKING BAR!
