The Bicycle Advisory Council craves fresh meat... and the deadline for application is Monday @ 5pm!
This month's BAC meeting is an election, and in effort to increase the candidate roster and get some new (and hopefully interesting) representation the CoA Bicycle and Pedestrian Program folks have posted a Request for applications on their website. Here's the skinny (and the pdf application sheet):
Join the City's Bicycle Advisory Council!
Bicycle Advisory Council Fall Elections
Next month the Bicycle Advisory Council will be electing five new voting members and two new alternate members.
The Austin Bicycle Advisory Council (BAC) serves to advise the City of Austin, Texas, as well as other jurisdictions in the region on all matters relating to the use of the bicycle. The BAC provides a direct link from the cycling community to the City of Austin staff in regards to policies, programs, and projects.
While the all meetings of the BAC are open to the public, the BAC voting members approve resolutions for or against key cycling policies, projects, and programs.
To apply, please fill out the form and submit it by 5:00 PM, Monday, November 15, 2010.
During last month's Critical Mass clusterfuck The Right Honorable Officer Jason Mistric said he was going to apply for a position on the BAC, so if you want to have a lot of fun over the next year you should try to get in there too, or at least sign up for an alternate position. I assure you, the meeting dialog is riveting through and through. As in you can take the whole seat but YOU'LL ONLY NEED THE EDGE good. No joke. Sign up. Deadline next Monday at 5pm.
