Amphibious trash race?!? WAT?

Woah! I just got an email about an AWESOME event that's coming up mid-next month. I'm not gonna go into too much detail but it sounds like what might be the wackiest race idea I've ever heard of:

...the basic premise is you (teamwork is encouraged) have to build an amphibious
vehicle out of (preferably) recycled / re-appropriated materials. Only manpower,
gravity and wind can be used for propulsion. The race will be about a mile on land,
across Town Lake via water and back to the start on land. The entire vehicle must
make the entire journey. No ditching any part of the vehicle when you enter or exit
the water...

Seriously, how rad is that? I can't wait to find out more.
