Social Cycling ATX presents: Thursday Night Social Ride - BFF Kickoff, Goldsprints and Dancing!
Talk about a proper aligning of heavenly bodies! Tonight's TNSR is going to be a damn fine one, due to the fact that they're working with the Austin Bicycle Film Festival to conjoin these two great events into one huge, mutant, Brooklyn Lager-swilling, gold-sprinting monstrosity of bicycle riding awesomeness. No shit folks, tonight is going to be so good I should probably preface it with some equally excellent mood music: Three 6's Official Crunk Junt. Just let it play in the background as you read this:
Listen up y'all! This weeks TNSR is going to be extra badass and is not to be missed. Why? Well...lots of reasons. But mostly because THE BICYCLE FILM FESTIVAL IS IN TOWN and we are going to the kickoff party! Before I give you the details about our sweet bike ride, the socializing, the free Brooklyn Lager, the GOLDSPRINTS or the dance party, let me tell you a little about the festival itself.
I have to say I'm excited about every single film. No matter what kind of rider you are into, there is a film about bikes that you will like. The screenings are on Friday and Saturday. Check out the details (including ticket purchasing info) here: http://www.bicyclefilmfestival.com/austin/
BMX rider? Check out the film about the legend Matt Hoffman:

WHERE AND WHEN: Our winter time meeting place, Plaza Saltillo (map: http://tinyurl.com/26vcmbf) at 7pm. We will hang out for some social time, then take off at around 7:30pm.
WHAT: It's a bike ride, a park stop and an after party at the Bicycle Film Festival Kickoff event. After riding around 13 miles around town and stopping at our favorite park, we will head to the Scoot Inn (http://tinyurl.com/348l546) for some kegs of Brooklyn Lager, Goldsprints run by Russell of Psychlist: Subversive Cycling (http://tinyurl.com/2ucyewo) and a DJ to DANCE to till "late".
HOW: Social Cycling Austin rides AS traffic and NOT AGAINST it. We stop at red lights, yield the right of way and let cars pass as best we can. We are cool to both our fellow riders and the other traffic on the road. Listen up to those volunteers who are helping to lead the ride. They are some nice folks and have you best interest in mind.
WHAT YOU NEED: LIGHTS, LIGHTS, LIGHTS, a lock, a valid ID for the after party and money for TIPS and fun at the after party.
See everyone at the Plaza!
Shit yes. 7pm at Plaza Saltillo is the place to be. I've missed the last couple rides due to various shit so I haven't made this start location yet, but I can't really imagine a better place to corral this mass of cycling humanity. You looking for good times tonight? Then BE THERE!
Oh yeah, and if you want to buy tickets for any of the Bicycle Film Festival Programs running throughout the weekend, THIS is the place for it. $10 will get you into one screening, $25 will get you into everything all weekend long. TOTALLY worth it. Get the $25 pass before they sell out.
