Cyclist hit in Kyle passes away

A Hayes County correctional officer who was struck while commuting to work last week passed away Thursday evening, according to the Statesman Blotter. The officer was cycling against traffic on the shoulder of the road and a car swerved, striking him head-on and severely injuring him. No word on if the driver was cited or charged due to to the collision. My thoughts are with the family and friends of officer Amaya. Rest in peace.
