This section is for STOLEN and RECOVERED/FOUND bikes.

If you've had a bicycle stolen please post it here in the comments section, along with any identifying marks or components that would make it easier to tell your bike apart from the rest. If you want to hear about your bike when someone else sees it, please post your contact information as well.

If you've recovered or found a bike, please DON'T post any specific details besides a general make and model. Again, leave your contact information if you want people to be able to retrieve their bicycles from you.

If you have a picture posted to flickr or another gallery, please provide a link to the picture so that we can see exactly what we're looking for. Thanks!

Stolen from West Campus locked up in a stairwell to my apartment. It was stolen less than a week after I drove it on the back of my car from Michigan. There are scratches from my bike rack on the bottom tube by the seat tube...other than that it's basically brand new. My lock had an attachment to the seat tube to click into it while I wasn't using the lock. Body is silver and the rest of the details were black. It was a "Boulder" model of the GIANT brand.

Any one with information email oconn2ma@cmich.edu.

A nice new black Pake urban street bike (6sp) was stolen from 505 Barton Springs Road (One Texas Center) on Tuesday (June 2nd or 3rd, 2009). This is an unusual bike that kind of stands out: http://www.pakebikes.com/nunubatmobile.html

Thanks for any tips or thoughts you might have in finding this machine.

Mateo.

It was stolen Tuesday night/Wednesday morning (6/2 - 6/3) off my truck near Bluebonnet and S. Lamar. The locks to the truck were cut/sawed through.

Men's mountain bike, fit to a 6' male.

  1. Black frame with largish dent at the front of the top tube

  2. Yellow platform eggbeater clipless pedals
  3. Straight handlebars, no extensions
  4. A saddlepack held on with an xlab velcro strip instead of a regular clipped strip
  5. At the time it was stolen it had a mounted rear light, mounts for computer and front light on the handlebars, and two bottle cages attached.
  6. There was also a U-bolt between the frame and rear wheel (in case it was discarded rather than cut)

Reward offered for information leading to it's recovery.

Thanks,
Jeremy

This bike was stolen from my garage this morning, Friday April 24, 2009, at 11:30am. Thief broke my car window last night, took garage door opener, and waited until we left the house this morning to get into the garage and steal the bike. If you live in the Cherrylawn/ University Hills area, please be careful. This is the third brazen theft on my block in one month, and the culprits are getting more and more daring. We were home and obviously awake last night when they broke the car window.

Bike is a men's 21 inch 2004 Gary Fisher Dual Sport 229. It's a hardtail, platinum and gold, with cane creek bar ends, 2 silver bottle cages, and BMX pedals.

Over the last year at least four employees bikes have been stolen outside of the store. Just a heads-up. In the last month one employee has had two different bikes stolen. All of the bikes were stolen at night and were locked up with cable locks. It looks like the thief/thieves are targeting this location.

Yesterday between 4pm and 9pm, at TimberCreek Apartments (614 S 1st St.). Someone used a hacksaw or something similar to cut through a metal fence and remove the bike.

It's bright yellow, with a black and yellow saddle, a commuter rack, and a little gray and black seat bag. It has a tail light strapped poorly to the back of the commuter rack (it doesn't quite fit and the strap is wrapped around the bars). It has a head light and a U-Lock still around the frame...this is my first bike and I would really love to have it back. :(

I work at Central Market Westgate. While at work in the past 2 months I have had these 2 bikes stolen. I am 37 years old and have been in the bike seen for a loooong time. After the Firemans was stolen I thought I had made a point to security but obviously something isn't happening. The Firemans 4 was blue with stock components. I absolutely loved it. The 24 Redline had to many extras for me to think about right now. These inbred lowlife thieves are doing this while store hours are operating. Warning do not lock your bike after dark in front of whole Earth provisions. They are stealing bikes after Whole Earth closes and before Central Market. God help 'em if I catch them. - colbyhpuckett@gmail.com

FURIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!

My gray Trek cruiser classic was stolen on the UT campus yesterday from the music building's side bike rack during the day. It has an aluminum body painted gray with gray fenders and chrome handlebars. It has some scuffing from being on bike racks and the chain guard was damaged and has been removed. It also has cheap Schwinn front and rear lights on it. It also has city of Lafayette, LA bike tag underneath. If you see this bike or know anything about it please let me know. Thanks

An '06 Trek 1200 SL (black & silver) road bike was stolen between 10am-noon on March 16 in sunny daylight in front of Charlie's Nightclub and Grill at 13th & Lavaca. It was locked to a bike U-post. Employees inside were helpful, but saw nothing unusual occur. I'm bummed big time. Any info please contact Lyn @ 794-1108 or lloeffler3@austin.rr.com

This is not exactly a stolen bike (I hope) but my roommate lost her bike Friday night. She locked it up somewhere in the vicinity of Red River and 8th street but forgot exactly where and has been unable to find it. It was locked up with a large U-lock, if anyone sees one in the area please let me know. My email is kps2420 at yahoo

Description:
Smaller sized Black Bridgestone MB-5 with teal decals and a lot of dirt. It has a holographic sticker of Shiva and also a HAAM sticker. Black saddle with a rip on it.

my bike got stolen from a UT bike rack with it locked up next to dozens of other bikes on the same and adjoining racks. i have been explaining to friends that mine was chosen because it was quite coquettish, thus it is only logical the thief would answer its calls. anyways....
identifying marks:
- on the top tube there are gouges out of the blue paint from where the brake levers were a little feisty.
- black bull bar add-ons with "specialized" in white on the side(the plastic end caps are a bit banged up from the bike being set upside-down)
- black "trans-it" pouch under seat with tire tools inside
- two water bottle holders, one blue one silver
- paddle shifters, 18speeds
- rock shocks
- my blood, sweat and tears... (those may not have left any traces though...)

thats all i can think of as identifiers.. other than its general lack of reflectors.
if you spot it, you can call me, ben, at 512 785 7116 or email: backsheesh@gmail.com

So some asshole decided to ruin my day by stealing my 58cm RED FELT F90 ROAD BIKE some time after 3am last night (Sunday March 8th). It was last seen locked with a Kryptonite combination U-Lock at Taos Co-op on Guadalupe. The most recognizable feature is that my bike had 2 sets of hand brakes: 1 on the stem and 1 on the handlebar drops. It has a broken/loose front wheel clasp. The handlebar tape is black carbon fiber and is considerably wearing out. A saddlebag is under the Selle Italia bike seat which contained tools/tubes/lights. It has a few knicks and scrapes along the top of the frame. I have not seen the same exact bike in Austin in my year of owning this bike (and I bike everywhere) so please email me or call me if you see or hear of anyone trying to sell or buy it. Here are a couple photos of the bike: http://www.flickr.com/photos/joseole/3339417978/ and http://austin.craigslist.org/bik/1066058465.html

UPDATE: ANOTHER RED FELT F90 IN AUSTIN
So this morning, I recieved a call from a woman named Emily who saw this post who phoned to tell me that she spotted a red Felt F90 on campus at UT. I pedaled my little legs as hard and fast as I could to go check it out but unfortuantely it was not my bike. THERE IS AT LEAST ANOTHER RED FELT F90 HERE IN AUSTIN. I left a note explaining the situation on the bike and the owner, a man named Patrick, called me back. I told him about this posting and all the others I have made, letting him know that there are a lot of people keeping their eyes out and I hope he does not get any future problems as a result of my bike being stolen.

There are some discernable differences between our bikes:
My bike has 2 sets of hand brakes: 1 on the stem and 1 on the handlebar drops
His cranks are black, mine are silver.
He has clip in pedals, mine were flatties.
His handlebar tape is black foam/cork and looks new, mine was black carbon fiber and again considerably worn out.

I anticipate getting other calls about this bike so please do not take matters into your own hands or do something stupid. I talked to Patrick and it is obviously not my bike so let the man ride in peace. Otherwise, please continue to keep an eye out for my beloved red Felt F90. My fingers are still crossed...

MAKE THAT 3 RED FELT F90s:
Got another call from someone about a red Felt F90 on campus and went to check it out only to find that it was again not mine! Strange how I've never seen the same bike in Austin and now here within 3 hours, I've gotten reports on two others. I guess it just means the flyers and postings are working. Strike two....

Grey frame. Light blue fork. Deep v rims. fixed gear. Brooks saddle with a bit of grey paint on it. Bianchi cranks.

Stolen a few weeks ago from the corner of s congress and nelle/academy (By the Austin Motel). Any info please call Scott @ 512.608.5311 or email me at sjawson@gmail.com

thanks!

I run another Stolen Bike Registry (mad props to Jason, btw, for running this one) and there's a Texas user of mine that just dropped me a line. I need the Atxbs.com help!

He has just recovered a very nice *** Look racing bike *** that was very obviously ripped off and stashed and awaiting pickup by whoever took it.

There is a VERY high probability that the bike's owner is outside of Austin, but I'm hoping the community there can help reunite this bike with owner. Maybe you know the owner? Maybe you heard of someone missing a Look bike?

IF you know ANYBODY in Texas missing a LOOK, drop me an email with details re: model and color. The model begins with a "K" but that's all I'm putting out there unless some probable owners show up.

Thanks for your help,

i thought i would give it a shot.. i had a specialized p.2 (grey) stolen from my second story balcony.. it was locked.. anyways it had "this machined kills fascists" on the side, a yellow glidder saddle and pink grips.. i cant remember what stickers i had on it..anyone seen it? thanks

My red Galaxy was stolen from my house in Central Austin on 2/5/09.

It's a Red Dawes Galaxy road bike that is probably around 20 years old. It has blue and yellow wrapped u-shaped handlebars, a busted-up Kryptonite lock attached to the frame and two gold stripe decorative stickers on the frame. The handlebars have a bit of rust on them and the frame around the rear tires is duck-taped (it's an old bike).

I love this bike. I've had it five years, and it's made two major moves with me across country. I could never replace it, because a) I'm broke and b) the sentimental value is through the roof. It's not a fancy bike, just a reliable mode of transportation that has served me well. If you see it around, email me at vldre7@gmail.com or call me at 415.5122.

I locked my bike up and could not fit it in my car on Wednesday, Feb 4th. I checked on it at around 7 p.m. and was planning on getting it in the morning at 8 a.m and found it gone. :(

Bike Details:
-Cannondale Caad3
-Gold
-Black handlebars
-Thick downtube
-Black squishy seat
-Silver waterbottle holder
-21 speed
-Thin road tires

I really loved this bike and have never seen another one like it in Austin.
If you see anyone on it or happen to wonder upon it at a pawn shop, please email me at Lruby88@hotmail.com or call me at (512)413-1962

Thanks.

Has anybody seen my baby?

It was stolen on 12/9/08 (the night we had some cool weather blow in- sleet and big ol' snowflakes). It was locked up on my car's bikerack while parked curbside at 105 W. 8th St. just 1/2 block W of Congress Ave. Cable, lock and bike we all gone (seemed kinda strange that the cable and lock were gone too), so I assume that the cable was cut. I filed a police report that night.

Description of bike: (Please also see pic. named Kona...)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/35090613@N03/3255195978/?addedcomment=1#com...

-Front tire: "IRC KUJO DH 2.35"

One black nylon REI Novara Explorer pannier;
ToPeak Road G MasterBlaster frame pump,

Arggh. I had the feeling when I chained up the bikes that I should have brought the U-Lock, even if it was a Sunday afternoon in front of the church.

Too late now. My wife and I went to a workshop on Sunday, Jan. 25, at the First United Methodist Church at 12th and Lavaca and chained two bikes below with a regular-old cable lock. We went in at 11:50 and emerged at 2 p.m. to find them gone.

Here's what's missing:

Trek 5700 Hybrid, 2008 See: http://bicyclesportshop.com/itemdetails.cfm?LibID=48399
Silver and Gold
Has a distinctive light brown seat
Black Bike Rack
Light and Seat Blinkie and Bell

And here's the dinger...since I had a broken spoke on my hybrid, I dragged out an old 1995 Mongoose Mountain Bike...can't remember the model, but it was covered in stickers including:

Ireland
Slusher for Mayor
Waterloo Records

Slusher for mayor? How's that for some history!

If you see it, simply email damico@lobv.org

...my bike was stolen!! ...and I reported it to the police~

I brought it here Monday the 19th after a two hour cleaning at about 10:30pm, because I had to ride across 35 (I just bought a C permit for my car). Then I chained it around both tires and the frame to a rack near Jester east by the hazard light zone. I registered it online, but did not submit a serial #. I went back on the 23rd to go to my car and it was gone. The cops claimed they can not get it even if they find it. That is B.S.! Cuz I have too many details, and statistically there is no bike like it in Austin. Well I ended up getting a ride to my car with the officers and then… chasing bikes and running them over! j/k
Actually the really bad part is… my bike is worth more then my car!

If you are interested, I would like to start an Anti-theft club dedicated to community service that would consist of a night-watch exclusively for bike racks. Also I want to make this a nonprofit foundation with donations that will go to buying cameras, alarm systems…tazers, mace, tranquilizers, and karate lessons! Okay, maybe not all of that…

Well if you don't like the idea, how about this one:
An anti-RAD program! Defend against the defender! Do not let woman escape! ;b

"Keep Your Eyes steady and your bats ready!"
Don't you hate people who steal bikes?
It makes you want to get into fights.
It alienates human rights.
Abducting saucer lights,
Obstructing property, it bites!
Maybe I'm mad - it makes me want to go BOOM! Like a Shiite.
Let's start flying cameras on kites…
At the pikes!
It will be like searching on hikes!
We'll catch em' with shoes, Nikes taking flights!
And we'll make them meet Mike Hawk; hopefully it's a dike~
To overcome this plight, we must be stronger and have the might.
So hold on tight!
We going for out for wanton (One ton) crazy-ass night!!

This poem is dedicated to who ever stole my bike. Oh, you better worry and you better run. I'm about to have some great fun. Just wait till I become a millionaire and I setup cameras everywhere. I'll track you down, and then beat you down. Oh ho-ho you stole from the wrong ambitious boy, Christmas has come early!? Merry! Merry! I'm happy and scary. Just keep stealing and soon will come the tooth fairy…with pliers and fists of might!!

YOU see? It's not the money, it's the principle. You can steal from a store and they have insurance, if they are a monopoly, but to steal from me is like taking from a beggar who has but one crumb left: his college tuition.

My bright blue Kona Jake the Snake 'cross bike was stolen from UT Campus during the day on Friday. It was locked with a cable and a master lock (I know, I know - not good enough). The bike is a small (53cm) full steel frame and fork, 1 in headset, with a compact crankset. Ultegra 9spd. It had a pretty image of some Hawaiian flowers on the seat tube and had a UT bike registration sticker. I have the serial number, but have to track it down. Any info call: Josh at (512)482-9498. $300 Reward if found.

a co-worker of mine had her bike stolen yesterday (1/22) in front of our office at the UT campus. She had it locked. i told her i would post up on some sites. if you guys know of any other sites please let me know and spread the word! i feel so bad for her! she has it registered with UT and the police took a report. i told her to check out some pawn shops and other bike shops to let them know. this may be a long shot but here's a detailed description of the bike:

Blue (blue/grey) Surly Long Haul Trucker, all markings were peeled off so the frame was clean , minus a very small and almost not noticable sticker from freewheeling bicycles at the base of the framing. Serial #: M7123512 it has/d? a rack attached to the back, and 'power strips' (elastic-like cages) on the petals. the saddle had a few tears in it, mostly around the back (oy, to break in another saddle, another sadness!). both wheels were not quick release.

please email me (cynaggs@yahoo.com) if you find out anything so i can let her know. Thanks!!

Subject: BIKE: STOLEN BIKE A.P.B. (Stolen earlier tonight)

Fellow cyclists,

My 2008 Bianchi Valle commuter bike was stolen about an hour and a half ago
from my house near 38th and Guadalupe. This is the second bike I've had
stolen from my yard while I was home. I was getting ready to go out and had
the bike in my back yard for maybe 10 minutes while I took a phone call.
The thief apparently entered my backyard through the gate in my privacy
fence from our alley. The bike was not easily visible from the alley.
Please call me at 512-809-2505 if you see it. I've already filed a police
report, but if anyone spots the bike or someone riding it, I'd prefer to
recover it myself. Here's a brief description:

Frame: All black 56cm with silver/white Bianchi logo. Black and Silver
Kriptonite U-lock mounted on the top bar.

Handlebars: Silver albatross/cruiser-style with black grips

Tires: skinny with white reflective sidewalls
Headlight: Mounted to handlebars. Hub generator in front wheel. AT LEAST
ONE BULB ON THE LIGHT WILL BE ILLUMINATED IF THE WHEELS ARE IN MOTION, EVEN
IF THE HEADLIGHT ISN'T ON.

Other unique characteristics: Black Fenders, black Trek rear rack, red
tail-light with white plastic exterior

It looks just like the bike below except for the rear rack and silver
albatross handle bars

My Bailey Works Messenger Bag was stolen

It went missing New Years Night from a party near east 32nd and Manor.

It's a large, pin stripe black and grey exterior, yellow interior.

Totally one of a kind.

I'll give a $200 reward to who ever returns this very sentimental bag. That is enough money to go buy your own bag. Just bring me mine back, please.

Stolen from CSC parking garage downtown (private garage on Colorado between C.Chavez & 2nd St)

Bike was locked to the rack in the garage with a cable lock. I have spoken with the security at the garage and we will find out today if the surveillance footage shows anything and I've filed with APD (who have been amazingly proactive so far). Any help you can provide in spreading the word is greatly appreciated- I really really want to find the bike (and the bad bad person who took it).

You can call or email me with any info.

Blue in color - 2 front seats and both seats have peddles-
9 feet long-

There may be a wood flat bed and maybe chairs and lights -
on the drivers bars may be a combo bell /compass --

It took me over a year of hard unpleasant work to
pay for this peddle car --

I simply want the car returned -
no police involvement wished -

Email- Spokefellow@yahoo.com ---thanks

I had a White Gary Fisher Ladies Mountain Bike stolen last night 11/23/08 between 4:30 and 5:45 pm near Cesar Chavez and Navasota. If you see it please let me know! I worked really hard at getting this (used) bike and only rode it 4 times.
It was white with black lettering that said "Gary Fisher".

Also, there was a suspicious looking truck with a camper on it cruising around slowly in the area when the East side studio tours were ending and when it was getting dark out. There was only one person driving and at least 2 bikes I could see in the back. I think they were looking for bikes to nab. I called Ausin police but they couldn't find a light colored truck with the plates: 29G0H2.
If you see the bike please let me know or call East end pedal pushers, where I bought it! Also, if you see the truck, let me know because I made a police report. Thanks.
