Social Cycling ATX presents: Thursday Night Social Ride - The loooooong ride.

Actually it's not THAT long, really about the same as me riding from my house to downtown and back, but for a Thursday Night Social Ride it's not sounding too shabby...

Hey Everybody! It's a new year. There's a lot of talk about resolutions and change going on. That's all well and good, but some things stay about the same... and that's a good thing. This year look for Social Cycling Austin to have some bigger and better events that we hope you'll like. We will be trying a couple of new things, and hosting new rides but at the end of the day, it's still going to be about riding your bike and having fun with old friends and new ones.

This week we're taking a 16+ mile ride around town at a nice easy social pace with a couple of extra stops at new places to hang out for a bit. We're ending the ride at a TNSR favorite, Nomads (http://www.nomadbar.com/), for our traditional free then cheap beer. Thanks to Nomads for having us!

WHERE AND WHEN: Our winter time meeting place, Plaza Saltillo (map: http://tinyurl.com/26vcmbf) at 7pm. We will hang out for some social time, then take off at around 7:30pm.

WHAT: This week there is no theme, no benefit, no special event. It's all about riding and hanging out with a couple hundred of your favorite Thursday Night Bike Friends. After we take a nice long ride at a social pace, we'll do our usual hanging out and having a couple of beers. Thanks again to Nomads for the hospitality.

HOW: Social Cycling Austin rides AS traffic and NOT AGAINST it. We stop at red lights, yield the right of way and let cars pass as best we can. We are cool to both our fellow riders and the other traffic on the road. Listen up to those volunteers who are helping to lead the ride. They are some nice folks and have you best interest in mind.

WHAT YOU NEED: LIGHTS, LIGHTS, LIGHTS, a lock, a valid ID for the after party and money for TIPS and fun at the after party.
