Social Cycling ATX presents: The Pleasure Ride! Chill riding, tex mex, great weather. Talk about a holy trinity.
The last couple of Ric's Pleasure Rides have been so successful that he's going to be doing another one TOMORROW! As has happened on the past few outings, this one will end at a drinking establishment that also serves food. Ya'll ever heard of a little place called Chupacabra? Well it's Jackelope's other half, and like Jackelope they have a 2-for-1 entree deal on Wednesdays, so if you're hungry and have a friend who likes to ride, bring them too and get a deal on your meal. Here are the ride details, directly from Mr. Reyes:
Welcome to the Pleasure Ride.
For those of you new to this ride the goal is simple: More people on bikes, more often.
So grab that bike that has been collecting cobwebs in your garage, lube that chain up, and come ride!
...Don’t worry if you’ve never been on a social ride before, we were all new to this wonderful world once too! Come out, meet some new people, and ride bikes. Plus a recent study shows that riding a bike makes you 34% more attractive and increases cognitive thinking by 40%!*
(*warning. actual results may vary. ric reyes and his subsidiaries cannot be held responsible for any injuries that come with you believing you are smarter or more attractive because you ride a bike.)The Pleasure Ride is a ride aimed at beginners and/or anyone just looking to have a nice slow paced cruise around town. This ride is intended to get you on your saddle more so that you can become better acquainted with your bike and ultimately feel more comfortable riding on the streets in our beautiful city. All bikes are welcome. All skill levels are welcome.
We meet in the parking lot on the corner of Chicon and Jesse Segovia at 6:30PM. We’ll head out around 7PM. Before we roll out we’ll go over a few basic safety rules. We will keep a nice relaxed pace for 3-7 miles and end somewhere that we can grab a meal at.
Now for some rules:
We ride as traffic. We share the road. We move over to the right and let cars pass. We stop at red lights. Remember that the average car weighs 4000lbs. You weigh considerably less. If a car is attempting to pass please move over to the right and single file it. It’s in your best interest.Bring these things with you:
A bike, front and rear lights, a lock, a helmet is a good idea, and maybe a spare tube and tools. This week we will take a little cruise west of the highway and land at Chupacabra(400 e. 6th) where they serve a variety of Tex-Mex for all your dining needs.
Hope to see all your pretty and smiling faces this Wednesday.
