As most of you know one of our fellow cyclists was killed in a hit-and-run collision over the past weekend. In the days that have followed there've been news reports, "please be kind to cyclist" signs, ghost bikes put out and removed, and a lot of talk amongst cyclists on what to do, how to feel, what helmets to buy.

Well, a couple people are doing something more in the form of organizing a big memorial ride. Leslie, Keith, Robin and the rest of the crew have been pulling this one together over the past couple days, and are rightly trying to involve the entirety of Austin's cycling community as a cyclists death at the hands of a motorist is an event that affects all of us. Here are the details of the ride and ghost bike dedication:

Andrew Runciman Memorial Ride and Ghost Bike Dedication

Schedule:
6pm Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge- ride leader volunteer meet up and strategy session
6:30- riders arrive at bridge
7pm- depart bridge
7:30- arrive at dedication site- in front of red's porch 3506 S Lamar- dedication of ghost bike w family and friends briefly speaking about Andrew
8pm- Depart down S Lamar back to ped bridge
8:30- Done

There will be an after ride get together with family, friends and riders at Violet Crown Social Club on East 6th.

Bike Texas is paying for a police escort, special thanks to Robin and the crew for that.

Big thanks to everyone involved in organizing this event, and I earnestly hope that all of you will attend if you're able. Try to show up on the bridge by 6:30pm as this ride LEAVES at 7. And please be respectful of the occasion. Don't be a dick.
