RIP: James Clayton, bicycle thief, cyclist, human
That's right folks, bicycle thief super-villain James Clayton has passed, at least according to his facebook page, as well as the page of his lady friend. Rob D'Amico clued me in to the facebook pages, thanks Rob.
His last posting on facebook was on the 23rd, and on the 24th his death was announced. Thus ends a chapter in Austin bike history, as well as the life of a human being named James Clayton. Sure, in his day he was a prolific bike thief, now he's a dead bike thief.
So it goes.
As stated earlier by the other skeptics....JAMES CLAYTON IS NOT DEAD. Don't let his flame troll 'ladyfriend' and 'nephew' fool you. (you can't even lie-type convincingly? so pathetic). It was nice of them to come out of hiding to pour gas on the austin bike scene once more behind the guise of the internetz.
It's just so curious for a con artist to die 2 months after his latest bust. Especially a young and healthy man. HMMM. I guess he just died of heartbreak, the poor man.
OR IS HE JUST FUCKING LYING AGAIN
Once James Clayton gets out of this, he'll move somewhere else and start again. Then he will get caught again because his GREED makes him socially suicidal. He will keep chasing the high of somebody trusting/loving him, only to destroy the relationship with his masturbatory fixation with material wealth.
But at least we can poison the internet so that his name is never good again :D
hey there con-man's family/gf...
what should disgust you is that while you were fighting for your country, your relative was spending his time stealing from people. he was a THIEF. got it? he stole from people... he's the guy that would steal the gold teeth off a dead soldier... the wedding ring... etc... the kind of person no one respects b/c he respects no one. that's the guy you're defending. he spits in the face of honor... he spits in the face of truth and sacrifice.
i'm sure everyone here (including myself) and everyone in the USA appreciates your sacrifices so stop throwing it in our faces b/c this story isn't about you ---- it's about some scumbag, lying THIEF that died and the only thing i'm sorry about is that you're related to him.
thanks for your military service, you're a brave dude.
A man died, and whatever his sins in life it does no good to speak ill of him now. Having said that, if you don't want people to read or link to what you said, don't put it on the Internet! You are putting what you say in the public arena, and you should not be surprised when people comment on it.
Elliott from Austin On Two Wheels
To James' alleged girlfriend and nephew: James preyed on a lot of people here in Austin. I sincerely wish him peace in death (if he is indeed dead), becasue in life he was cursed with being a sociopath who felt no empathy toward others. He befriended people for the sole purpose of stealing from them. So to say that we do not have the right to discuss him is ridiculous. He made a living deciving people, so if said people are a little suspicious of his death, then you will have to accept that. The person that you two knew and loved is far different from the one that Austin knew.
As James' "lady friend" I need to say that you have NO permission to link my Facebook Page nor James' to your site for personal gain and need to remove them immediately. To not do so is a violation of our privacy and fuels the unnecessary harassment of his family, friends, and loved ones. Put an end to the hate and respect our mourning.
You can adjust permissions super easy, as could have ex-Clayton, face
book has been redesigned for clueless people just like you. learn to internet and protect yourself. The world is a cold place, James made it colder for alot of dedicated cyclists, so shut the fuck up till you've made amends with every one of them.
My name is James Womack. I am ashamed to see that I went to war and survived only to see you blast my Uncles picture and death over the internet. It is truly disgraceful that you cannot let our family mourn his passing without sticking a knife in behind our backs. Regardless of what he did or did not do you have no right, authority, or place to even talk about this subject. I long since lost the ability to use my right leg as a normal human being would and suffer ulcers in each lung, and now I have to deal with this B.S. on top of comforting a grandmother who just lost not only her son, but a son in law just days apart. I served my country to see treatment like this? utter B.S. you are no better than those masses I would like to call The Westboro Baptist Church. You will cease any and all comments from here on out. As far as I am considered my Uncle is dead and now I will attending in my service dress with a Mother and Grandmother in each arm. Next time you decide to put word to paper really consider the ramifications of what you say, how you say it, and what you do to go about saying it.
(I served my country to see treatment like this?) good for you, your decision, did the world change so much from when you left that it all is surprising? and what right and authority are you talking about, free speech, he was a thief, I doubt you would speak kindly of your enemies. and westboro, your comparing a bike blog to a church, what are you a turd? just the worst idiot they could find?
Maricopa County confirmed his death. Nuthouse found some other interesting details. See

Considering the fact that Mr Clayton is (was?) an established sociopath and prolific liar, I'd have to see his dead, cold body before I'd believe it.
I can assure my Uncle is quite dead as I will be attending his funeral with his mother my grandmother in hand as she watches her only son laid to rest. You ignorant bastard I cannot believe I fought in a war lost the use of a leg and suffered further injuries for bastards like you. I only wish that I could have the same satisfaction you so obviously do to stick a fork in your family after a loved one died.
You really sound like you think you fucked up by joining. those are some deep resentments. you are venting to the wrong people though. find help
... I see nothing of any substance.
(And nothing about a death on James' facebook, but of course it's there on hers.)
Considering how devious his crimes were, faking his own death wouldn't surprise me. (And if I recall correctly, his life-changing heart attack earlier in his life was doubted by some.)
Even something as simple as an obituary or news article giving some details would be helpful here.
you need no further proof since I can assure you my Uncle is quite deceased. And if you cannot fathom that then I pity your obviously low intellect and suspicious nature. You need no proof now let MY family be as we mourn the passing of a loved one.
... he was known by the Austin community to be a rather prolific con-man, and therefore you should not be particularly surprised by people here doubting his death when the only evidence seen is a Facebook post.
No news stories, no obituaries, etc.
Now, I've since heard that somebody here actually called the coroner there and got a confirmation that a man with his name did die, but the corner wouldn't give more information than that. So that's something, though it's still quite vague.
And to be fair, I really don't know that he was your uncle. For all I know, you are James himself and you're just trolling everybody. Granted, I have no evidence either way, but from my point of view it's certainly a possibility.
Assuming that James did die, then accept my condolences. But you should be aware that he pissed off a lot of people here -- he befriended them and then betrayed their trust. He was a con-man, and con-men are deceitful. You should not be surprised that there's more than a few people who question the accuracy of *anything* involving him. And perhaps that offends you and your family, but, well ... that's just too bad.
That said, there's now an obituary out there, so that's the evidence I was looking for. It's more convincing than a Facebook post or a guy claiming to be his nephew, anyways.
> I pity your obviously low intellect and suspicious nature
You cut me to the quick, sir.
