The weekend so far...

Lets see, so far I:

* Went on my own pub crawl, organized by myself, thereby breaking my religious opposition to organizing anything personally. I did my penance later that night.

* Rode bikes through a cemetery.

* Stopped a fist fight.

* Crashed HARD and tore a hole in my hand, as well as rashing my shoulder, arm and hip.

* Volunteered at Tour de Fat. Showed up late but still got to help out.

* Went on a HUGE cop-approved bike parade. The cops corked for us. It was kinda awesome.

* Headed home early due to a hangover and massive headache, and to catch a few zzzzs.

* Was suddenly awoken with the news that my prize suspension tree was in the process of burning down due to an electrical fire (a light fixture in the tree exploded).

* Put out said tree fire with the help of many buckets and pans of water, ferried to me by my lovely wife while I was throwing them at the tree.

That's about it for me. Tomorrow I'm gonna try and hit up Maker Faire, and maybe go ride Walnut Creek if I can get my Karate Monkey shifting correctly.

So how's your weekend so far?

P.S. Thanks for coming on my ride y'all! It was awesome to see so many friendly faces at The Jackelope, Wahoo's, and the cemetery afterwards. My friends are the best.

drinking with the dead is the best. what fist fight did you break up? hopefully that wasnt on the ride!

Yeah the cemetery was a blast. I think you left before things turned ugly, but the cemetery excursion ended with a slight bit of bloodshed. Nothing major, though a poor way to end an otherwise awesome evening.

this weekend was the best weekend EVA’ for riding, it seems. Tour de Fat was ridiculously fun. I actually fell off my bike during the parade because we were going so slow! Hangovers and riding 2 mph=nice bruises. Did anyone see the bunny peddling the tryke bike with the dude video taping on the front of the bike? Now that was wicked. That and the silly shoe bike were the best. Could not get said shoe bike going! Maker Faire was killa’ too! Maybe next year we need to have a bike booth with everyone who has built custom utility bikes there?!

Oh I heard the afterparty was nice too…

bike nerd fo' life, yo

I saw you at the Tour De Fat, but I didn't get to say hello (but Elliott did!). Congrats on your Best of Austin, by the way. Sounds like you have had an... interesting... weekend so far. Are you going to be up at the Maker Faire taking photos of the bike zoo, etc?

We have a gallery of about 175 pics of the Tour De Fat up at http://austinbikeblog.org/?p=1164 also. Haven't culled through them much yet. There are some good shots there, though, and if you'd like any high-res, I'll send them your way.

damn, thats one fucked up tree now.

Yeah man, I'm having to have it taken down. This sucks, that tree was the fucking best. Dammit.

Anyone know of a good tree cutting service?

Hey yall.

I was at the Tour De Fat yesterday, had a bunch of fun, met a few neat people, rode the crazy bikes (and wrecked a few), Won my 1st heat in the Slow race( I was wearing the tuxedo T-shirt).....and had a FEW too many beers.

I ended up dropping or leaving my Green Lazer Pointer behind, its one of my favorite gizmos and I love it! I miss it already. It was not very cheap to buy, and i know i was dumb for dropping it.

If by chance you found it, or know who has it, just drop me a line, or drop it off at my job Free Wheeling Bicycles(if you ride your bike I'll give you a free check up!)
at San Gabriel and 24th. Monday-Saturday.

Thanks-
Frye
