What an excellent evening. I made it out to the 9th St. Jam long enough to watch a couple rounds of Texas Footdown (and see my favorite shop owner AJ tearing it up with the youngins) before heading over to the bike-in movie with my wife to see the UT Orange Bike presentation of Rad. Always an excellent gem of 80's biking greatness, even if it was skipping like a broken record in spots. No harm no foul, I still loved the movie, and the company was great as always. Following the flick it was back to the homestead, where I've been geeking out to video and Fallout 3. Fallout 3 is winning.

Just now I finished dumping the hour and a half of video I shot of Critical Mass, procession of the spirits (aka. the snake bike ride), and the fireworks afterwards. In one shot of us leaving the capital I counted over 400 cyclists. 405 including myself, to be exact. I'm going to have to count that again tomorrow when I'm not so loopy, but yes, that's four hundred five people on bicycles. And a couple dogs.

WOAH. One of you old-timers correct me if I'm wrong but I think that might just be one of our biggest Critical Mass rides ever. If you want more evidence of the festivities, check out Kevin's Flickr stream. Here's a shot if his costume, which just so happened to be my favorite of the ride:

A Lonestar to the person who can name the costume without the aid of teh intarwebz.

grim fandango...but i feel i might be wrong.

Though Grim Fandango is the game, and Manny is the name of the character.

... or it could be a trick question, and the appropriate answer would be `um, he's trying to dress like a bunny?'

And here is the cigarette-looking guy from behind. With his bunny-friend in the picture too. There's something very cool about seeing somebody riding a bicycle in a (business) suit.

Manny?

Seemed very appropriate for Dia de los Muertos ...

(Also looked a lot like a cigarette from behind.)
