More bicycle news! - KXAN report on the crackdown
KXAN released a story last night on the increase in complaints against cyclists over the last few months, and also mentions the corresponding upswing in police activity against cyclists that has followed. According to the story, the cops have given out 119 bicycle citations since August. That's TICKETS, not just warnings. Check it out:

Beyond speaking with the Austin Police Department, they talked to Rob D'Amico and Annick Beaudet of the League of Bicycle Voters and City Bicycle and Pedestrian Program, respectively. Glad to hear they tried to look at all sides of the story.
Yesterday I mentioned a similar story by Daniel Mottola of the Austin Chronicle. He also polled local cyclists (via this website) about the crackdown and got feedback from several people, including myself. The Chronicle has published this feedback on their website, so if you want to see what other cyclists have to say, this is the place.
Thanks again, news peoples. It's good to see this stuff is getting reported about. Now I'm just killing time until I can go buy a brake bleed kit for my Avid Juicy 5s. Damn hydraulic brakes. Never again.
