This sounds really awesome. For all you "green" types who cream yourselves at the very mention of the word "sustainability", here's a ride that seems right up your alley.

It's a bicycle tour of almost a dozen of Austin's biggest urban farming operations, where you get to learn how they do their thing as well as sample some of the local produce. There's no mention of a price on the website so I believe it's free Turns out it's $25 for an individual, and $40 for a family, plus you have to register and fill out an online waiver. Ouch. Food better be damn good for $25 bucks. This ride is led by the ladies of the Austin Flyers Cycling Team, so at least the company will be pleasant.

There are three routes, a 10 mile, 14 mile, and 24 mile, and correspondingly The Main Event send off is 10 a.m. from the Downtown Market; 9 a.m. from Bicycle Sport Shop South Lamar, and 9:30am from Sunset Valley Farmer’s Market. Go check the site for full details and info about where to pick up your information packet.

I go to the farmer's market every saturday morning...a good reason to ride yo...I'll keep my 25 bucks for that!

Yeah I need to start dragging myself down there on Saturdays. I love fresh produce and I can always use another bike rides. I think this trip'll take people by the sources of all those tasty foods. Still for 25 bucks I expect some tasty vittles.

looks like the cost to ride is $25 for an individual or $40 for a 'family'

Oh, damn. $25? Better be some real tasty organic local food.
