Looks like the original Midnight Moonlight Tower Tour lives on, at least according to their myspace site:

Saturday November 29, 2008 11:59pm. Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge.

We get rolling at 12:30

I wrote to get confirmation that this was 100% going on, but the way I figure it if we show up, it goes on. Here's the route from last May's ride, so I'm assuming it'll go a little something like this:

And last night I was thinking to myself "that was so much fun, I want to do it again!" I guess sometimes wishes do come true.

The organizers never arrived, so at around 12:45am we headed for the first one, and somebody whipped out their iPhone and so the ride went on. Our ride turned out to be about 18.5 miles last night, though looks like we (or maybe just me?) missed the one at Trinity and 11th. Though we did add a nice little extra jaunt on the east side ...

In any event, here's the path we took on google maps, or a screenshot of that.

About 25 people started (there were more at the bridge, but some bailed before and not all left with us), and I think 11 or so of us finished.

Yeah, I think he was including his riding to and from the event (or maybe for the day), not just the riding for the towers.

Hell yeah y'all! I'm glad to hear people rode even if the organizer didn't show. Oops. I think there's a tower in Travis Heights as well that y'all may not have hit, but it sounds like you had a good ride nonetheless. I ended up getting calls/emails from 3 other people that completed the ride, one of which came in at about 3am. All sounded like they had a blast.

Any pics? ;)

I imagine you had already seen the pictures when you asked, but for the benefit of anybody else who wants to see, there ya go.

I pulled out an older camera of mine this time, a Minolta Dimage s404. It's older, so I don't mind so much putting it in harm's way, but it's good quality with a reasonably large lens so it takes better pictures in the dark than the cheap but modern and smaller camera I've used lately. I think it worked pretty well -- having lots of megapixels doesn't do you much good if your camera doesn't have enough light. I just need to find one or two 512MB CF cards for it -- it won't take anything larger, and I could easily fill up the 256MB card I do have in one trip. Anybody have any in the junk drawer? :)

i made it as far as Longbranch Inn, where beverage libations took over my need and willpower to continue on towards the end of the ride. how many people finished? Hopefully next time I won't wimp out due to a need to re-de-hydrate excessively. The stop at Drugo's was definetely a good call, btw.

Hi to all the North-side Performance Bike crew! See you at Sweat & Tears!

bike nerd fo' life, yo

that ride was pretty sick the other day

Towers 1 and 14 on that map aren't there anymore.

I know, he still took the ride by their locations just because tradition dictates it.

A couple dozen of us managed to finish the thing last night.

My total distance was 55.8 miles. Not bad for an old fart. Now get off my lawn.

Yeah, I bumped into some of the guys from Performance Bike that finished the ride last night, they said they had a blast. I had my wife and friends waiting up for me and didn't want to delay them any longer, priorities and all that. 50+ miles isn't bad at all! I need to put a computer on one of my bikes so I can start figuring out how long rides are.
