What's going on these days...

Couple new things, I added 3 new places to the Bike Discounts section of the page. Treasure City Thrift offers 10% off everything to bikers and walkers, all day long. Club DeVille has a "Gears for Beers" night on Wednesdays, with cheaper drink prices for bikers. Finally (and most awesomely IMHO), Daily Juice gives 15% off to bikers all day long at all 3 of their locations. Talk about a hookup!

There's a big race/movie premiere coming up this Saturday in Bryan, TX. Normally I don't cover a lot of news that far away, but some of our locals are organizing rides out there so that our racers can compete. If you're interested, get on the TXFixed forum and make it happen.

Supposedly, the latest Austin Bike Plan draft is ready and awaiting public consumption. The plan was to release it in .pdf form on the city's Bicycle and Pedestrian Program website sometime after December 5th, but unfortunately it hasn't been posted yet. I've seen a hard copy of this mammoth tome regarding all things bicycle transportation and recreation related as they pertain to the City of Austin and let me tell you, it looked INCREDIBLE. It also looked formidable; the spiral-bound book had to be at least 3 1/2"-4" thick. As soon as I see a link available I'll let you cats know, so that you too can bask in the glory of the brand spanking new Austin Bicycle Plan.

Finally, starting tonight we've got SIX solid days of badass bike events to look forward to. There's a lot of variety to choose from including a swap meet, the full moon cruise, an AMAZING sounding pub crawl, a race, and several other killer sounding occasions to get on a bicycle and do some riding. I'm gonna try to make a few of them (specifically the race and the pub crawl), so hopefully I'll see y'all out there. Remember to bike safe, but most importantly, have fun!
