Fund raiser for local cyclist with cancer
Justin and Damon were passing out flyers for this event last Full Moon Cruise, so chances are a lot of you already know about this:
Here's what Justin has to say about it all, as well as a few words about Christie:
one thing that isnt really mentioned on the poster is there is going to be a silent auction with all sorts of stuff for every type of person. The auction ends around 10pm but the show goes on. so people who want to come for the auction need to come a little early, the show starts at 8pm. theres going to be a raffle for a new bike. incase you dont know, kitty kitty bang bang is a burlesque show and from what I've been told the ladies are mighty fine, and put on one hell of a show.
a little bit about Christie, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer on her 28th birthday almost exactly a year ago, and was told after going through horrific treatments that she had a clean bill of health. In September she was told that her cancer had spread and that it was terminal, yet not all of her doctors give her a terminal diagnosis. On December 1st her insurance dropped her because they said she made to much money every month. 100 dollars to much!! Christie gets 700 dollars every month and this is supposed to pay for everything. she cant afford to survive right now. Just one months supply of one of the medications she has to take cost 200 dollars a month, and there are many many medications that she has to take with the same price tag on them.
Christie has lived in Austin for about ten years and she has never owned a car. Christie rode her bike every where. Not one of those sissy geared bikes either. She moved here with a 20" bmx bike for her transportation and then moved up a wheel size to an awesome robinson 24" cruiser ( we are still on the hunt for the thief) and on to a 26" cruiser. Christie could be seen riding all over town, her favorite ride is the harvest moon cruise, at least until her good friend Damon started doing the full moon rides, and she hardly ever misses a critical mass ride.

Christie is our kinda people and it's bullshit that her insurance company left her high and dry like this. If you're out and about why not swing by Clown Dog and pre-pay for a ticket. This event should be awesome from the sound of things but even if you skip it know that you're giving a few bucks to a hell of a great cause. I'll be racing beforehand and then high-tailing it down for the fund raiser after I kick everyone's asses. See y'all there!
