Damn, I've been running around all evening and just got to checking my email, but it looks like my favorite reporter's bike was stolen today! Check out what he has to say, and if you see the following bike, you know what to do:

Every cyclist's worst nightmare just happened to me. My beloved commuter bike was stolen from my yard about an hour and a half ago. I was hoping you could post up the below notice incase anyone out and about tonight sees my fairly distinct-looking 2008 black Bianchi Valle commuter.

It was stolen from my house near 38th and Guadalupe. This is the second bike I've had stolen from my yard while I was home. I was getting ready to go out and had the bike in my back yard for maybe 10 minutes while I took a phone call. The thief, who I never saw, apparently entered my backyard through the gate in my privacy fence from our alley. The bike was not easily visible from the alley.
Please call me at 512-809-2505 if you see it. I've already filed a police report, but if anyone spots the bike or someone riding it, I'd prefer to recover it myself. Here's a brief description:

Bike: Black 2008 Bianchi Valle

Frame: All black 56cm with silver/white Bianchi logo. Black and Silver Kriptonite U-lock mounted beneath the top bar.

Handlebars: Silver albatross/cruiser-style with black grips

Tires: skinny with white reflective sidewalls

Headlight: Mounted to handlebars. Hub generator in front wheel. AT LEAST ONE BULB ON THE LIGHT WILL BE ILLUMINATED IF THE WHEELS ARE IN MOTION, EVEN IF THE HEADLIGHT ISN'T ON.

Other unique characteristics: Black Fenders, black Trek rear rack, red tail-light with white plastic exterior

It looks just like the bike below except for the rear rack and silver albatross handle bars

Man, that completely sucks! I'll be keeping my eyes peeled, hopefully someone recovers your bike quickly and gets it back to it's rightful owner. If anyone sees it locked up somewhere, please let Daniel know. You get lots of bike karma and Daniel's on the hook for a couple beers.

Update: Here's a photo of Dan riding his beloved steed:

Note the unusual swooped back "cruiser" style handlebars.
