The city council race narrows, AND has a deadline!
If you follow local politics like my wife does, chances are you already know about this tidbit of news. It looks like the Election for Place 1 at the City Council bench has lost an entrant, as late last night Rick Cofer officially withdrew from the race. K-T over at Burnt Orange Report has been covering this since yesterday, and has also published both Chris Riley's and Perla Cavazos. What does this mean for our favorite bike candidate's campaign? Though Cofer didn't endorse either of the other candidates, it does mean that we probably won't see a runoff or lengthly election process for Place 1. It also probably frees up more funding for Chris, as Cofer was running on a very similar platform with regards to most environmental issues. Go Chris!
Also announced earlier this afternoon, the election for Seat 1 WILL be held on May 9th. What better way to celebrate bike month than electing a pro-bike city council representative? I definitely think that'd give us a good reason to celebrate with a pub crawl, if nothing else. ;)
