What a weekend! If any of y'all had even HALF the fun I did, then I'm sure the past 72 hours will at least have a podium spot in your standings for BEST WEEKEND EVER.

Between Critical Mass, scavenger hunts, Frankenbike, bike polo, and all the parties, bike rides, and [REDACTED TO PREVENT SELF-INCRIMINATION] in-between, this weekend has been FREAKING PHENOMENAL. But don't take my word for it, just check this out (continue on to their galleries after the pics for OVER FIVE HUNDRED more photos)...

An estimated 500+ massers gathered on the West Mall before the ride. (photo by Jose Lozano)

This tall-biking entertainer kept the ride moving and shaking all night long. (photo by Jose Lozano)

This is what Congress Avenue should look like ALL THE TIME. Oh yeah, sorry for clipping your rear wheel pirate dude. (photo by Jose Lozano)

Nic of the PSBC showing off the hottest Volume Cutter in town at an after-dark beer stop. Seriously man I love your bike. (photo by Doug McLaren)

Two of the four tallbikes in the crowd. WE NEED MORE TALL BIKES! Builders, get to building! Boone, you rule! (photo by Doug McLaren)

THE LAW making its' authoritah known by requesting that an offending bike be removed from the steps of the capitol building. (photo by Doug McLaren)

Somewhere, buried deep beneath this throng of sweaty bikers, lie two kegs of birthday beer. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAUL (the guy in the F-14 shirt)! (photo by Doug McLaren)

Robert (bike polo organizer and all-around cool cat) getting ready to play and looking like a bad motherfucker. (photo by Daniel Liebowitz)

If any of you have even CONSIDERED showing up for Bike Polo, stop putzing around and DO IT! Yesterday was my first time playing and I had a BLAST! There were over a dozen people there so we had enough to rotate teams out each game, and everybody got to get some seriously excellent playing time in. Hell, even Jason from the Austin360 Road Rash blog made it out to shoot some video and talk to the players. The hard courts were taken when we showed up so until we got the courts we played a few games on grass and I must say, I think I actually enjoyed field polo better than the hard court variety. I'm sure this had nothing to do with my penchant for falling off my bike at inopportune moments. Nothing at all...

Not everything this weekend was wine and roses though. Well maybe WHINE, but there was nothing rosy about this recent bitchfest over on Livejournal regarding last Friday's Critical Mass escapades. Sometimes I wonder how grounded in reality a lot of the people who post on there really are. I for one know that I have exactly zero feet on the ground and my head is ABOVE the clouds, so I'm not exactly the right person to be judging anyone.

If anyone else has any photos they'd like me to feature on the site, or a gallery of a local event that they want linked, drop me a note and I'll be sure to do so with full credit to you for your work. As incredible as the rides have been lately, we've been so lucky to have so many great photographers with covering events and documenting them for future reference. I can't even count the number of times I've bragged about how dope a ride was, only to pull up Doug's site or Jamie's gallery to demonstrate y'alls awesomeness to the uninformed audience of my ranting. Thanks again, everybody!

hell yah that's my bike! thanks whoever snapped that shot!

It was the best yo...And I pity those "pussy-victim"-types over on livejournal who actually think they are doing somthing for biking by "taking there place" in society, bottom rung. Who are those 3 people? Ah well...who cares...late!

Austin longboard crew, I know a few of them, most of them work on Friday, Kyle has come out on a couple of them. I'm sure they would come out to ride, I'll talk to them next time I see them about it

~ people always talk about my drinking, but never my thirst

Thanks Les, you rule. Let me know if there's interest.

It's all in a days work, I think up genius things. ha ha.
We should stick to this one

My weekend was a complete blur, with all the bicycles around I went into a bike coma.
It was much fun as always, and some friends and I were throwing around the idea of maybe having a beach bike party for this month's mass.

Hot Weather & Bicyclist in bathing suits, hand in hand!

YES... Let's ride the waves!

Hell, I wonder if anyone knows any longboard communities we could contact and drag along on the ride. I don't think that's what you meant by ride the waves but it could be pretty dope to have a crew skating along with us.

How you think, I like it.
