Bike parts are no match for my madness...
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!! I just broke my 3RD $100+ bicycle component THIS WEEK! First was me managing to crack my carbon 1" threaded Look fork on my Litespeed Tuscany, for which I have yet to be able to find a replacement. Next up was yesterday evening, when I stripped out the pedal threads on the right-hand side of my tandem crankset on the Volume while hauling ass on 5th St. I guess those cranks weren't made uber-beefy for us fat fixed gear kids, because that was the SECOND one of those I've stripped, though the previous time was the redundant left drive-side crank (which I had a replacement for). Replacing this one's gonna be spendy, and until then I have to either throw my crappy origin8 cranks back on or go back to the Sugino 75s and suffer through 46x15/13 gearing. Austin's not a track, that's not gonna work. Unexpected bus rides are lame...
And now the latest tragedy. About 30 minutes ago I managed to land a 3' drop a little wrong and crack my Selle Italia Flite saddle in half. Probably not the best saddle to mate to a 1x1, but it was the only saddle I had that wasn't on a bike at the time and wasn't broken, so what are you gonna do? Now it's horribly fractured down the center, right where the taint hits the seat. Coincidently even though I dropped the seat post a bit to compensate for my jumping prolictivities my taint did hit the seat, but I'll spare you the aftermath of that altercation in case you're reading this over lunch.
Needless to say, I'm in dire need of some bike parts. If anyone has any of the following they'd be willing to part with for some cash money (or trade for other parts), please let me know:
- 1" threaded road fork w/ ~17.5cm steerer tube (for 57cm litespeed tuscany). Carbon isn't important, in fact I'd rather have a nice steel fork for this bike.
- 110BCD 170mm square tapered crankset. JIS or ISO is fine, I just need something sturdy enough to jump off of things and not crumple under my might.
- Off-road worthy seat, preferably in black. I have a busted DK dirt-jumper seat I'll make do with for now, but it's not really built to be sat upon.
I try not to use this website as a "hey help me out!" page, but money's tight and so many of y'all have been so kind lately to tell me how much this website's been helping y'all find out about goings-on in town and connect to the bike scene (seriously, everywhere I go y'all are boosting my ego. I'm loving it!), so maybe someone out there's in a good enough mood to cut me a deal.
On top of my tall-bike cracking last week, this means I'm 4 bikes down, 3 to go. Please say a prayer for my remaining bicycles, they seem to need it these days.
Didn't really think you were a carbon and Ti kinda guy. Don't have any of those parts for ya though.
I was out at Walnut Creek last night and there was a metric ass ton of BMXers out there! We always ride the BMX Loop but I don't think I've ever seen more than one or two people out there riding...what gives? This a weekly thing?
Yes, I even have a carbon/ti road bike in my stable. I also own a helmet that I wear when going out on "roadie" rides. I still don't have a jersey or chamois, but I expect it's only a matter of time before I see the light and invest in a few. I'm very open when it comes to biking discipline. I'll ride EVERYTHING, albeit rather poorly in most cases.
That's awesome to hear about the BMXers. I don't know about any events up there, but I know lots of people have found out about the pump track and have been putting it through its' paces. I've gone up there for a few loops and last time I was there I had to wait in line because there were around a dozen people using the loop.
