Stripped Bottom Bracket Shell

So, I just found out this morning that my 10-year old Gary Fisher Aquila has bit the dust. The guys at Ozone tell me the bottom bracket shell is stripped. I sent off an email to GF to see if I might be covered under the lifetime frame warranty, but I doubt I'll get any good news from them.

Has anybody out there had any luck getting around something like this? Is there a shop in town that might be able to re-thread a bottom bracket shell? Does anyone have experience with threadless bottom brackets?

I've spent all afternoon reading up on this, and I figure I'd ask around town about my options.
