Man am I beat! Between Critical Mass, Frankenbike, the Drop Dead Alleycat, the amazing weather prompting spontaneous riding all over the place, and the brutality that is the local Bike Polo league, I feel like I need a few days to recoup.

Friday was a whole lot of fun. Between Critical Mass and a great spontaneous after-party in the West Campus area, shit was slamming that night! After the Critical Mass shenanigans we brought about 60-70 people up to Boone's place in West Campus, took up a collection, and quickly raised the $$$ we needed for a keg of the Lonestar. A short jaunt down the street to Junior's and the party was on! Ernie did the DJ thing and kept shit hopping inside while the rest of the crowd hung out, drank beer, and started a fire. No cops showed up, everyone was chill, that's the way it should be!

Saturday I got a freaking DEAL at Frankenbike! It's all about showing up earlier rather than later, folks. When I got there all the fixed gear kids had already poked over mostly everything, but I still found a steal of a MTB crankset/bottom bracket, and pointed someone else to a great deal on a set of bars/levers. Now my Karate Monkey's gonna be a 3x9. Sweet! Also means the cranks can come off of it and go towards my Fixie, so we should be back on track there too. DOPE! Now all I've gotta fix is my Litespeed and life's gravy. Speaking of, I have some RIDICULOUSLY awesome news on the Litespeed fixing front, but I'm gonna wait to spill the beans until everything comes together. Nonetheless, I owe someone up in D-town a BIG THANK YOU for being so badass to help me out in my time of need. I guess my site reaches a wider audience of cyclists than just the local community, which is pretty cool in my opinion.

After Frankenbike I headed the wrong way to get to a race. For some reason I thought Drop Dead 2 was happening at Drungo Ice House, so I hoofed it over to west campus only to realize that in reality it started at East Side Pedal Pushers down on 5th St. D'oh! I biked back over to the east side in time to catch a quick breather and still get in on the race. The format was a little different than usual, and was a really great concept. The race was a fundraiser for Yellow Bike Project as well as a donation drive for the Capital Area Food Bank, so each of the 5 checkpoints was an H-E-B and at each one you had to buy canned food to donate. 2 can minimum, and each additional can shaved a few seconds off your finishing time. Utilizing the power of my massive intellect, I surmised that the $.30 cans of "potted meat food product" were the best cost-to-weight/size ratio for fast travel and stocked up on them. I think I ended up with 35 extra cans or something, but it wasn't nearly enough to off-set the 20 minute detour I took from the race to drop by a friend's house and do... stuff. Then grab a burger. Then get back to racing. As it was, I finished in the BOTTOM three before counting my extra cans. The actual top finishers (and their times) were as follows, according to the OneLesCar Blog:

1st place: Cloyd, came in at 121.05 with cans, made his time 1:17.05
2nd place: Sterling, came in at 1:22.02 with cans, made his time 1:19.02
3rd place: Andrew, came in at 1:30.46 with cans mad his time 1:24.46
4th place: Ryan, (last years winner) came in at 1:29.02. Ryan had no extra cans of food, but did bring back a six pack of Modelo's.
5th place: Chris, came in at 1:31.54 with cans, made his time 1:30.54
6th place: Chris Lee, came in at 1:44.08 with cans, made his time 1:34.08
7th place: Ahlee, came in at 1:44.10 with cans, made his time 1:35.10

That means that for all the shit-talking I did, the guys from this blog TOTALLY whipped my ass. Good race y'all, and thanks for organizing this Les! Altogether the event raised $106 dollars for YBP, and 479 cans of food for the Austin Food bank. Nice!

Saturday night was one of heavy drinking, bike hijinks, pissed off frat brothers, and a whole lot of fun. I'm not gonna get into it because I don't want anybody to face any form of prosecution, you know how it is. Needless to say, the Friendly Fellers go hard.

Sunday, SUNDAY, SUNDAY!!! Sewer main problems, nekkid cartoon watching, pannini making, Sunday morning was rather eventful. Due to wanting to sit around the house in nothing and be lazy with my peoples, I missed Sexy Sunday but I heard over 30 people (and LOTS of cameras) made it out, so I expect to see some really excellent photos from the event. I DID make it out to bike polo, which was excellent as always. A couple of the matches turned out to be rather bloody, which always makes for even more fun. I tore up my knuckles on one of my many over-the-bars crashes, but I think the best injury was the uncapped bar-end to the forehead on one of the firefighters. Good shit y'all! Rumor time: Sounds like the Sexy Sunday people are teaming up with the Austin Bike Polo League to host a race in a few weeks. I don't have all the details but if you know the organizers of these events like I do, expect it to be INSANE! I can't wait.

I think that's about all that's fit to print in relation to weekend biking fun. Hopefully y'all enjoyed yours as much as I did mine, but if not stay tuned, we've always got more ridiculously awesome events to check out, including a full moon cruise in less than 2 weeks!

I am dead! Saturday was soooo nuts hahaha
