Caden's home (Update #2)
Just saw this post from Caden himself (stolen from myspace):
"So they sent me home last night. now I have to lay around doped up and wait to go back in and be checked out. and I'm kind of messed up, so u can come visit me"
I'm sure it's going to be a while until he's in prime condition again but at least he's been released.
Yesterday I received the following from a fellow full moon cruise rider and wanted to pass it on to give another eye-witness' perspective on the event:
"My name is Robert Camp, I was at that moonlight cruise and that isn't exactly how it went down. I was at the front most of the time, and it was my buddy Joe who told me about the event that Caden hit. Caden was going too fast down the hill, I was going at a speed of at least 35mph, and had just made it through the turn. Caden zipped past me, almost clipping me, coming about 3-4 feet away from me. He had taken the turn very shallow, when he hit the apex of the turn it started to push him to the right side of the road. He tried veering away but began to lose control of his bike. He ran into the side of Joe, throwing them both on the ground. Joe is a BMX rider and used to falling, he kicked his bike away and began rolling. Caden got tangled up in his and didn't get away. He wasn't at the front at that time, nor did Joe land on top of him. Caden did take the brunt though due to the physics of it. He hit the ground first.
Caden was leaning hard left to try to avoid everyone, unfortunately physics were pushing Caden to the outside of the turn, because the turn is not banked in anyway. Joe, actually told me and our friend Chad that he was glad he hit him because of Caden's speed he possibly, and probably, would have gone into the wall of the bridge. Joe dislocated, and instantly relocated, his shoulder on the fall. We rode down the road with him where his wife met him, and took him to the hospital that night. My best wishes to Caden, I didn't meet you, but I never wish harm upon anyone."
Thanks for the clarification Robert. I'm also glad to hear that Joe (much like myself) is adept and well acquainted with the physical act of crashing and came away from it in relatively decent condition, considering. Take it easy and get better, y'all! Hope to see everyone back out on the rides once you're back in riding condition.
Finally, Annie is taking up donations to help Caden out with some of his medical expenses. No hospital stay is cheap, but when combined with no insurance and multiple CT scans they can get fucking ridiculous. I'm sure anything given will be a drop in the bucket compared to the overall costs associated with a several-day ICU stay, but still lets help out a fellow rider if possible. Get in contact with Annie if you're of the myspace persuasion, or holla at me and I'll see if I can put you in touch with Caden directly. We gotta look our for our own, 'cause if we don't no one else will.
